jesse cook - kuttemperoor Aauditorium, sharon lynne wilson center for the arts, brookfield, WI
Like other guitarists of this music style, Canadian-based guitar virtuoso Jesse Cook mixes together many influences, like jazz, Latin, world music, and African percussion. Beyond that, he conjures different textures and colorful timbres in his thrilling playing style, taking it much further into an unparalleled, multi-faceted, global hybrid. The raw passion of flamenco is unquestionable, driving listeners to tap toes, clap hands, and get up to dance.

space coast jazz festival - wickham park amphitheater
melbourne FL
The lineup: Saturday - Michael Lington, Matt Marshak, Nelson Rangell, Ken Navarro, Brian Simpson, Warren Hill, Najee and Nick Collione; Sunday - Tim Bowman, Jackiem Joyner, Greg Adams, Jeff Kashiwa,
Marion Meadows, Nils, Blake Aaron, and Will Donato. A lot of talent to cram onto one stage in two nine hour periods. There was a core group of musicians backing up many of the artists but this was no pedestrian pickup band, it was a a collection of guys whose names are all over the liner notes in your favorite CDs - Guitarist Blake Aaron, who was heavily involved in co-ordinating the event, Michael Whittaker on keyboards, bassist Anton Nesbit, and drummer Marcus Hill, A number of musicians also brought members of their regular bands - generosity above and beyond the call since they were covering their own travel as well as donating their performances. They had to learn the arrangements for over a dozen artists and work with different groupings of musicians with little or no rehearsal and no soundchecks. They delivered too! Not only did they sound like they had been together for years, there was chemistry and spontaneity that became more tangible as time passed. These guys were connected, which enabled every artist to deliver a concert-quality set!
